D'Ambrosio, Josephine A.

Josephine A. (D’Ambrosio) D’Ambrosio, 85, of Peabody formerly of the Greater Boston area, wife of the late Joseph R. D’Ambrosio with whom she shared 57 years of marriage, died peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Salem Hospital with her family at her side.
Mrs. D’Ambrosio was born on March 14, 1924, in Keene, NH, the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (D’Intino) D’Ambrosio. She was raised and educated in Keene New Hampshire. In 1991, she moved to Peabody after residing in the Greater Boston area for most of her life.
Mrs. D’Ambrosio’s children described their mother as a family oriented person who loved cooking for the holidays, partying, one with a great sense of humor, a confidant, great companion and friend to many. As hobbies, she enjoyed bowling and dancing. She will be well remembered for her great cooking, especially her cookies that so many enjoyed receiving.
Mrs. D’Ambrosio is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard J. and Sheila D’Ambrosio of Peabody, Diane P. and Dr. Robert Balsis of Whitman, and Marie A. King of Peabody; 2 brothers, Pasquale D’Ambrosio and his wife Hansine of Bridgeport, CT, and Antonio D’Ambrosio Jr. and his companion Genevieve McGann of Storrs, CT; 7 grandchildren, Alison Bosma of Middleboro, Dr. Brian Balsis of Mattapoisett, Stephen Balsis of TX, Kevin D’Ambrosio of Chicago, IL, Lisa DeLiso of Plymouth, Ashley Balsis of Whitman and Jacqueline Henshaw of Manchester, NH; 9 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Nancy Sacco of Wakefield and Helen Sacco of East Boston; 2 special nieces, Margaret Chicklas of Bristol, NH, and Lucille Doherty of Wakefield and many other nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday, March 13, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Bassett, Florence H. (Bumpus)

Florence H. (Bumpus) Bassett "Cookie," age 93, of Rochester, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Toby Hospital in Wareham. She was the wife of the late Arthur Bassett.
Born in Rochester, a daughter of the late George W. and Lillie M. (Sherman) Bumpus, she was a lifelong resident of Rochester.
Mrs. Bassett was a 1935 graduate of Wareham High School and was employed as a clerk for both Atlantic Mills and Arland's in New Bedford until her retirement. She was an avid bowler belonging to the Seniors of Mattapoisett and Rochester Leagues.
Survivors include two sons, George Bassett and his wife, Janice of Marion and Arthur Bassett and his companion, Joan Nelson of W. Wareham; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons. She was also mother of the late Bob Bassett.
All are invited to attend her graveside service, to be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 9:30am in Sherman Cemetery on Pine St., in Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the Rochester Fire Department, 4 Pine St., Rochester, MA 02770.
