Tropical Storm Earl – 0 viewsBoth Mattapoisett and Marion docks were busy spots last week when the National Weather Service issued a Hurricane Warning to the region. Plymouth county, in addition to Cape Cod, the Islands, and Bristol county, prepared for Hurricane Earl, a category 3 hurricane that stood the potential to make landfall in southeastern Massachusetts. Azorean Maritime – 6 viewsThe Azorean Maritime Heritage Society in New Bedford, MA is hosting about 70 people from the Azores in early September 2010 for the International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta with teams from USA, racing against teams from Pico and Faial. Volunteers sample water to test oxygen saturation, clarity, temperature and more. Volunteers, especially in Marion, are needed and anyone can get involved.
